The Tampa Bay Rays vaporized the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards with the Rays picking up the W 8 to 1. Rays pitcher Wade Davis (4.41 ERA) got the win, while Chris Tillman (7.92 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. Wade Davis went 8 solid innings for the Rays, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rays was Dan Wheeler (3.03). The Orioles’s starter Chris Tillman went 2.2 innings, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 8 earned runs with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Matt Albers (4.31), David Hernandez (4.35), Koji Uehara (3.27), and Alfredo Simon (3.12) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Davis’s record goes to 7-9, while Tillman is at 1-4.
In addition to the 8 runs, the Rays scored 9 hits and committed no errors. Evan Longoria led the Rays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Jason Bartlett’s 2 hits. Sean Rodriguez had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Miguel Tejada could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Orioles managed one run, 7 hits and no errors.
